Career background
I wear several hats. I am an Actuary by training, Systems Analyst, Health Professional, Program Evaluator, and Data Analyst. I am the Evaluation/Data Management Manager for the Georgia Division of Public Health. I have served in various capacities within the Georgia Division of Public Health for 6 years. I am also a 2003-MAPH graduate. I am currently leading a team of staff from GA Division of Public Health to perform a pilot test on “overweight among children ages 2 to 4 years in Georgia”; through a Grant our team obtained from the USDA during the MAPH training in 2003. I am also part of a research team at the National Center for Primary Care at the Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta. Our study is on “Creation of surveillance tracking and monitoring system to assess the outcome of preventable hospitalization among diabetic patients in Georgia”.
Achievement in the program
Thanks to the Kellogg Foundation for making this training possible for my peers and me. From global perspective, public health system needs leaders who understand the dynamics of change; demonstrate ethical values and recognize the implications of crisis management - be "SAR, MAD Cow Disease, or Ebola" - with scarce resources and capabilities. These challenges are the areas I need personal growth, and critically explore their limitations among my peers.
Hobbies
My family is my most joy. My wife is in her 1st-Year Medical Residency -Internal Medicine; my daughter is in college - Pre-Med, and a son, in 3rd Grade (alias, "Tiger Wood"). So I am a very busy person. Yet I don't skip my tennis and soccer practice. I coach soccer and I am also an avid golf spectator. In moments of silence, I enjoy listening to cool Jazz and Classical music.
