Personal Information:
I am a fearless Tejana loving living in California with my husband Jesus. I have two handsome sons, Stephen who serves in the Navy and Robert who thrives in Austin, Texas. I have three gorgeous grandchildren, a twin sister, brother and two younger sisters. I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I also assist my husband in consulting small businesses and entrepreneurs on accessing growth capital, strategic business planning, development and management. I am studying design of jewelry and love creating my own Latino folk art. I knit scarves for friends and enjoy cooking Tejano dishes. I enjoy watching and comadriando over Mexican telenovelas and learning to play golf. Besides reading all I can on childhood injury, public health management and business development, I read fiction by Latino writers, hike, explore California and look forward to publishing a book.
What I would like to get out of this program:
The combination of public health and business school ELPH program offers
me several opportunities - to strengthen my knowledge and develop stronger
competency in discovering future applications on strategic planning, management,
and program measurement in public health; to expand my public health network
and engage in discovery and inquiry with others just as passionate and
driven; and, ultimately to emerge as a leader in the design and effective
management of public health programs combining my entrepreneurial ability
with public health capacity.
