Alumni
Mary C. Brisbane, BA
Founder and President, Diamond Communication Services
Area of Work: Public Health
Unlike most of the other cohorts who Mary assumes will bring a wealth of academic and professional experience directly related to health care, the work that she has done in the field has been dedicated to public relations and marketing. Mary has worked with staff from health care facilities to improve internal and external communication by providing print materials, web text, communication audits, surveys, and referenda strategies. Mary has been a public relations professional for 14 years, working with schools, libraries and health care facilities. She has worked with hundreds of clients, specializing in matters that relate to community awareness and involvement, research, and campaign coordination. As a Bakeman Master Trainer, Mary teaches professionals how to implement the nationally recognized Bakeman Leadership Institute (BLI) training model, gain insight from studying and experiencing the model, and identify ways to incorporate it into their own leadership mindset, vision, mission and goals.
Personal Information:
I'm blessed. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us so I try and find
as much joy in each day as possible. As a small business owner, I don't
have a lot of "free" time, but when I can carve out a few hours
it's best spent with family or on the golf course. My 2005 goal is to
improve my swing and get under 100. I enjoy writing and will one day
start that children's book that is on my "to do" list. I've
been fortunate to live in great places like Guam and Hawaii, but New
York will always be home.
What I would like to get out of this program:
My goal is to be able to better assist clients by gaining a greater understanding of health care. I want to learn more about the internal aspects of health, such as leadership, finance, and crisis management. I hope to learn at least one thing from each of the cohorts that I can translate into improved services.
