School Food Policy Director, Healthy Schools Campaign

Camille Reid is the School Food Policy Director with the Healthy Schools Campaign (HSC), which is a non-profit organization based in Chicago, Illinois. The mission of HSC is to advocate for policies and programs at the district and state level that allow students and staff to learn and work in healthy school environments. In her role there, she works to improve the nutritional quality of foods that are offered in schools by developing and implementing various projects, and by developing and implementing the Campaign's agenda to influence state legislative policy. Prior to joining HSC, Camille worked as an organizer on an affordable health care campaign with Citizen Action/Illinois. Her experiences vary from health education, research, community outreach, and public health advocacy. She is committed to community and policy development efforts that reduce health disparities, including access to affordable, healthy food & health care.
She has a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Economics from Miami University ( Ohio ) and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Personal Information:
I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and moved to Chicago shortly after completing my undergraduate degree in 2000. I am currently engaged and plan to be married in May, 2006. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, friends, and family. I also love to cook, read, run, sing, and travel.
What I would like to get out of this program:
I would like to deepen my communication and strategic management skills, as well as gain a better understanding about the unique opportunities for managing across the racial divide. I am also looking forward to learning from and networking with other public health professionals.
