Peter holds a Masters of Social Work in community organizing from the University of Pittsburgh. His career began as a Program Manager in the area of workforce development with Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority in Cleveland, OH. In July 2001, he joined St. Vincent Charity Hospital as a Community Outreach Social Worker Specialist. Currently, as Director of Community Outreach Peter provides leadership and direction for programs as well as fostering relationships with key partners and identifying funding sources supporting the growth and development of Public Health outreach programs.
Peter has been honored to work with a great team of professionally trained staff in the areas of Community Health Worker, Social Worker, Public Health and Nursing. His team has developed innovative programs addressing health disparities. One program is the Community Health Workers utilizing a case management model to assist persons with healthcare access and increasing healthy behaviors. Another program is a grassroots resident-driven project focused on healthcare access, specific disease and youth activities with parental involvement. St. Vincent Charity Hospital adopted a philosophy of creating a hospital without walls to increase its efforts to address the health disparities in this community and other surrounding areas.
Personal Information:
I have served as a lecturer at Cleveland State University with the Department of Social Work. I currently serve as an Adjunct Professor at Cuyahoga Community College in the Department of Physical Education teaching self-defense. I am chief instructor and owner of 3N Society of Enlightenment, LLC a martial arts/social service business that targets all age groups, especially youth and adults promoting martial arts, discipline, personal growth and community responsibility. I enjoy watching movies, sharing laughter and having moments to remember in life.
What I would like to get out of this program:
I would like to increase my network with fellow peers and professionals. I expect to increase my understanding of public health practices by interfacing with academic leaders, researchers and practitioners facilitating and /or participating in this program.
