Area Of Work: Emergency Medicine

I graduated from the University of Ibadan Nigeria in September of 1990. After rotational internship in Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Pediatrics I served in the mandatory National Youth Service that took me to the remotest part Nigeria. I return to the University Teaching Hospital as a resident in General Surgery until 1996 when I emigrated to the USA. I completed Internal Medicine residency at Harlem hospital,New York City. My first post residency practice was at the Infirmary of Arkansas State Correctional facility at Cummins unit where I served as the Medical Director until April 2002 when I joined the Health Services Inc(HSI). It was during my service at HSI that I bacame familiar with 'Health disparities' as I had to care for the underserved clients - insured and uninsured . I served as a clinician in both the clinic and hospital setting in addition to Emergency Medicine practice. These background influenced my interest in pursuing further learning in Public Health realisng the need to reinforce the fragile health care systems and remodel an overburdened emergency care services.
