Dr Olayinka Akinola is a graduate of the Boston University School of Public Health. Here he received his Masters in Public Health with multiple concentrations in Epidemiology, Biostatistics and International Health and also obtained a Certificate in Managing Complex Humanitarian Emergencies and Disaster. He is Doctor of medicine, with a medical degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. As a member of the Higher Education Center evaluation team, he works on the Center's evaluation related tasks, programs, and activities, as well as Web site content development. Dr. Akinola has also been an active member and Center representative to the Health and Human Development Programs division diversity committee.

Personal Information

I live in Boston and enjoy travelling, discovering new cuisine, wine tasting, nature, and spending time oudoors.

What I would like to get out of this program

The Emerging Leaders in Public Health program uniquely provides me with multifaceted opportunities of professional development and career enhancement. Through both formal training modules using complex case studies by experts in the field and informal interaction and networking with other fellows in the program, I intend to gain additional knowledge and skills. As a public health professional, I intend to acquire additional leadership and management skills pertinent to navigating and excelling the field of public health making me a more effective and efficient future leader in the field of public health. Specifically, The Kellogg Fellowship will provide me with improved leadership meta-skills as well as better understanding and skills in leading in a diverse world, and providing peer mentoring, ultimately making me better equipped to positively effect future change in the field of public health. As an added advantage, I gain an invaluable resource pool in the professionals and experts I will meet during the program who will serve as resources both during the program, and when it is completed.
