Area of work: Maternal & Child Health

Since 2000, I have been employed at Florida State University's Center for Early Prevention and Intervention Policy and contracted to the Florida Department of Health Infant, Maternal and Reproductive Health Unit as a data/research consultant.  Besides my statistical/epidemiological analysis duties, I serve as the project leader of the unit's initiative to address racial/ethnic health disparities in perinatal health outcomes.  I received a Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and worked for 9 years in the Health Information Management field and as a program manager at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student health center.  I moved to Tampa, FL to obtain a Masters Degree in Public Health at the University of South Florida.  Before the completion of my Masters, I moved to Tallahassee and became the program administrator for data collection program at the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.  In 2005, I was accepted into the inaugural doctorate class of Florida A & M Institute of Public Health for studies in Applied Epidemiology and Biostatistics.  Due to my GPA, I was invited to become a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society in 2005.  I expect to complete my doctoral studies in Spring 2008.
