Wayne W. Don, BA, MBA

Wayne Don is a University of Alaska Fairbanks graduate with diverse experience in corporate, military, higher education and rural affairs. He is currently employed with South Central Foundation as an administrator in the primary care center where has administrative and operational responsibility for 7 clinics and programs.
Don spent the first decade of his professional life as an Army officer serving in various posts in Europe and the continental United States. His last assignment was spent at the University of Alaska Fairbanks as an assistant professor of military science where he helped train and commission officers over a four year period. During that time the Military Science Department was nationally recognized as an outstanding small site location for the quality, training and number of students commissioned.
Wayne received a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice as well as a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Don was recently selected by the Chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as a delegate for the vision task force; 55 international and statewide leaders tasked with creating a vision for the University for the next 10 years.
He and his wife Alicia have three children: Phylicia, Gannon and Delaina.
Personal Information
Alaska Native born and raised on Nunivak Island, village of Mekoryuk. Initial primary school experience thru the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Graduated from High School in 1990 1 of 4 graduates. Total village population 200.
What I would like to get out of this program
I want to increase my global understanding of the healthcare environment, learn how other organizations are dealing with the the national challenges of delivering services to traditionally underserved populations and develop a national network of colleagues who I can call on and colloborate with about issues.
