Coordinator, Akron Health Department, Office of Minority Health
Area of work: Health Disparities
Prior to coming on board with the Akron Health Department, I was the Special Assistant to the President and CEO of AcademyHealth, a Washington, D.C. think tank providing non-partisan health services research to Congress and a several federal agencies including AHRQ and CMS. My interest in public health began while I was a research assistant for the NIH-funded, National Human Genome Center at Howard University. There I assisted in conducting clinical research activities, in-depth interviewing and recruitment of over 300 families for a multi-generational, five-year genetic study on hypertension and diabetes in a cohort of African-American families. I received a B.A. in Anthropology from Howard University and am currently enrolled in the Consortium of Eastern Ohio Master's in Public Health Program.
