Arlene Vernon is president of HRx, Inc., where she provides human resource and management consulting, training and professional speaking.  Arlene helps businesses achieve “Human Resource Xcellence” through her speaking and training as well as by developing HR strategies and employee relations solutions as a consultant. 

Arlene has over 25 years of experience in human resource management, having worked and consulted in a variety of industries including: insurance, retail, food service, health care, technology, non-profit, manufacturing, higher education and various private service sector businesses. 

She earned an MEd in Counseling and an MBA in Organizational Behavior both from Boston University.  Arlene has also received her Professional in Human Resources certification – PHR from the Society of Human Resource Management.   

An established writer, Arlene’s publications include the book: Effective Hiring and ADA Compliance, published by American Management Association (AMACOM).

An active volunteer:

  • Arlene served for six years on the Board of the National Speakers Association – Minnesota Chapter, including as President from 2001-2002. 
  • She was the Presidents Council Chair of the National Speakers Association from 2000 - 2002.
  • Served as a Board member of the Twin Cities Human Resource Association. 
  • In 2004, Arlene received NSA’s Mark LeBlanc Award recognizing members who’ve made a long-term, significant contribution to the growth and vitality of the chapter.  
  • In 2005, Arlene received the Wise Woman Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners Minnesota Chapter.
